Okay, what is this hairy legged creature? Oh, it’s MY leg.
I USED to be the gal that always had silky smooth legs. I prided myself in making sure there was never a trace of stubble. And if I happened to forget to shave and needed to go to the doctor, and then the doctor had to see my leg or knee, I was horrified.
But, then motherhood intervened and blessed me with two beautiful children. My legs then took a back seat as did many other things that I used to care about. The focus was then placed on making sure my kids were properly cared for and that I gave them the attention they deserved.
Now, as they get older, my son is 9 and my daughter 8; I feel it is time to get a bit of “ME” back. I don’t know about the rest of you moms out there but I definitely have forgotten the most important thing for being a mom – taking care of myself.
Little things like painting my nails, shaving my legs, putting on make up, styling my hair rarely occurs these days because “I just don’t have the time” .
Or, I guess I should say: As soon as I get in the shower, somebody needs something or there is a crisis going on. Whether it be our new pup getting something she shouldn’t have and the kids can’t get it from her, or someone not being able to get their favorite app to work, or someone’s got to pee, it seems moms ALWAYS get interrupted by a yell or banging on the bathroom door. That’s pretty much why my normal bathroom routine for the past 9 years has been: jump into shower, get wet, wash hair, wash body, and get out , all within 5 minutes.
Now, my kids can wait a few minutes and watch tv or color or play a game while I have a shower and take a few extra moments for myself. Shaving my legs included.
Schick Intuition has managed to make shaving my legs even less time consuming. I got the shaver wet and started shaving my legs, nothing else was needed! You’ll see in the video how quickly I was able to shave my sasquatch legs – only 1 little knick and COMPLETELY smooth legs, not a single stubbly hair left!
This razor has lasted me 3 more shaves and still is not dull and still has lots of the bar of soap around it. I think it would be safe to say that it will last a month of shaving, maybe even longer depending on how often I shave.
The Schick® Intuition® Advanced Moisture Razor has 4 wonderous blades that are sharp but not so much that you get a thousands knicks on your legs while shaving.
The soap bar (formulated with shea butter ) that encompasses the blades lathers up great but not so much that I would have to re-shave an area at least 4 times like I do when using gels/foams.
The Schick® Intuition® Advanced Moisture Razor shaved minutes off shaving my legs as well as shaving the hair off my wooly mammoth legs!
Now I am slowly taking extra time for me, at least every 3 days, which definitely keeps me feeling and looking good!
- I received this product for free to review from A Mom’s Perspective and Schick Intuition. All opinions expressed herein are my own.
I was super excited to receive this prize pack. Crayola has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. Each year when we went to buy school supplies I couldn’t wait to buy that pack of crayons.
I was totally jealous when my best friend got the huge pack of crayons with the sharpener in the back.
They had so many colors to choose from!
Crayola has come a long way from the early days of creating beautiful colored pictures.
They have a vast array of hues/shades/colors, they also make special themed packs of crayons! We recently picked up some packs of the minion themed crayons to make sure we had the proper colors for coloring in our Minion coloring book.
One of the most innovative and awesome products that has been introduced to us is:
Crayola came up with coloring books and paper that can produce colors when using the colorless markers!
The only thing close to that innovative idea years ago was the little mystery books with hidden images and you used invisible ink to scribble over the page to make images appear.
But, having colors appear as you create your own images? That’s just awesome!
When my kids were about 2 and 3 years old they got to draw/paint with their first Color Wonder sets. We had a pad of Color Wonder paper, set of Color Wonder Markers and a fingerpaint Color Wonder set. They thought it was amazing when they used the markers/paint on the paper and colors magically appeared!
Since then we have purchased many Color Wonder sets including Disney:Cars, Barbie, Dora and more!
My kids LOVE crayola products and continuously ask for new products to try. The most recent one was Color Alive. You would color a picture and then use Crayola’s android app to bring the image to life(and 3D!). This definitely is an idea what would’ve seemed so “out of this world” 30 years ago!
My son also received the Crayola Easy Animation Studio for Christmas 2 years ago. He has had lots of fun creating little videos with it and looks forward to creating many more!
Ps: It’s on CLEARANCE right now! Click the link below
(I get nothing if you choose to click it – non affiliate)
On my kids wish list is:
Plus they’ve mentioned a few more! And people wonder why my walls and fridge are filled with my kids artwork.
Do you know a school that could use some help with art supplies like crayons, markers, paint etc? Did you know that Crayola is giving out up to 20 grants this year(2017)? Click the link below to find out more information and to get started applying now!
Did you know that the peach crayon (now) is the same color that was once referred to as “flesh” color?
I remember asking for the “flesh colored crayon” when I was younger. I never realized that it’s name had changed.
Did you know that in 1993 a crayon color called “macaroni and cheese” was introduced?
Want to know more about the history of Crayola crayon colors?
Crayola is quality. There is no other brand that we choose when buying crayons, colored pencils and markers.
Our prize box was abundant with so many fun things to try out that my kids wanted to shared some of it with you!

My kids and I love trying out new products especially when it involves products/toys for them.
I was very excited when I had found out that I had won a giveaway from Kiss Naturals
on Momma’s Little Reviews & Giveaways blog page.
There was a bit of a delay in receiving the prize but as soon as the company was contacted they sent one out right away!
Kiss Naturals is a Canadian based company that provides quality kits made with natural products for kids to make their own beauty products. Kiss Naturals “source our ingredients from local suppliers, including packing and assembly in Canada”.
On a rainy afternoon, my daughter and I sat down to make some lip balm while hubby and son went Pokemon Go hunting.
Making the lip balm was extremely easy and for the most part my daughter, who is 7, could do everything herself. The only part I did was mixing the wax up as the little measuring cup we were using in the microwave got a bit hot for her fingers.
If you would like to add color to your lip balm, just use a food base food coloring.
We learned the hard way….make sure you mix the food coloring into your shea butter BEFORE adding to the beeswax for melting/. Otherwise it just won’t mix in!
(See photo below!)
We had a lot of fun making this kit and look forward to trying out some of their other kits available!
I really appreciate knowing that the ingredients are natural and safe for my kids to use!
If you would like to purchase a kit to try with your kids you can do so by clicking on the photo/link below!
I don’t even know how to begin with this post.
“Hi, my name is Heather and I have a weak bladder.”
“Hi, my name’s Heather and I pee a little if I cough too hard.”
“Hi, I’m Heather. And I’d like to talk to you about something that affects 25-45% of women.” Yep. that’s the one….here we go:
Hi, I’m Heather. And I’d like to talk to you about something that affects 25-45% of women. Bladder leakage.
I never knew that doing kegel exercises while pregnant (or even before becoming pregnant) would have been a great benefit to me later in life. Sexual life aside, kegels would have helped strengthen my pelvic muscles; which in turn hold up the bladder.
But, according to WebMD it is never to late to start and it can be beneficial for both men and women who suffer from urinary incontinence.
Here’s a great link to check out if you’d like to know more:
I totally blame my kids for wrecking my body. I gained 98lbs with my son, lost 40 and gained back 40lbs with my daughter (they were 16 months apart so there wasn’t much time to get a better hold on things). I had to have emergency C-sections with both which I also blame for some of my internal issues.
I used to think it was funny to make my friend laugh so hard she’d pee herself.
Now I realize I was totally cruel, especially when my kids do it to me. Now, my husband laughs at me. Guess pay back is due. LOL.
The reality of the situation is, after having kids my bladder is not what it used to be. Whether it was from gaining too much weight, from the C-sections, whatever…the situation is…I sometimes have bladder leakage which is not controllable.
I wear a pad or panty liner 24/7. Not very sexy I know but they do go well with the granny panties that I love and have worn for years. LOL
I refuse to buy bladder leakage branded products because I am trying my best to avoid feeling old, which I do equate with having to buy bladder leakage products. Which is dumb. Why am I so embarrassed by it? Why do others think it is embarrassing or funny?
I find it really sad that I see many peers and adults laughing and making fun of people for health issues or situations that are out of their control. Even more so, I find it sad that I feel so embarrassed by it that it has taken me this long to speak out about it.
I think it’s time to grow up and stop feeling ashamed of our bodies and it’s time to stop feeling embarrassed of things that our out of our control.
And I definitely think it is time to start treating others with compassion and empathy.
The Stayfree Challenge is more geared towards periods and making sure we stay comfortable and dry during our monthly visit from “Aunt Flo”. No woman wants to be out at a function during “that time of the month” and have leakage occur…imagine combining that with bladder leakage?! (it’s not fun I tell ya)
However, because I use pads and liners on a daily basis and not just during my periods I wanted to touch on the topic of bladder leakage first as it affects so many women. I hope you don’t mind!
So, on with the challenge!
This Stayfree Challenge post has been made possible thanks to Mommy’s Weird !
I don’t know about you, but, I’m not a big fan of using tampons during my period. There have been too many times when I used the wrong flow type tampon or times when they just didn’t feel right. So, for the majority of my current 26+ years of being blessed to be a woman, I have used pads and panty liners during my periods.
As years have advanced, so has science and the development of better products.
I remember when I first started having my period and how big and bulky the pads were. They never stayed in place and they bulged to the point where I, *ahem*, started wearing a girdle to hold it better in place. I hated (and still do) wearing pads. But, they are getting better! They are becoming thinner, more comfortable, with better holding wings and more importantly better absorbing material.
Since I wear pad products for 2 reasons (my period and bladder leakage) I was excited to do this challenge to see how my current products stand up to the test against a name brand like Stayfree, who has been around for as long as I can remember. “Stayfree is currently owned by Energizer, which purchased the femine hygiene business from Johnson & Johnson.” ~Wikipedia
Let’s see how things go:
Stayfree Ultra Thin pads are made with a flexible-fit design and thermocontrol technology that offer a feminine hygiene product which will allow you to stay comfortable, dry and mobile throughout the day.
Materials needed to do this challenge:
- One placement sheet
- Stayfree Ultrathin Pads
- My current pad products (pad is a store brand and panty liner is a name brand)
- 5ml of blue saline liquid (yellow or red would have been so wrong to use!) for each pad product
- Blotting sheets
- Acetate Sheets
- and a hardcover book (I used 3 for extra weight)
Steps of the Challenge
- Place pads on the Stayfree Challenge sheet.
- Pour 5ml on 1st pad. Wait 30 seconds
- Apply absorbing pad on top of wetted area, followed by an acetate sheet.
- Place books on top and press down gently for 5 seconds…ooops I pressed firmly!
- Remove the book and check your results.
- Repeat with competitor pads.
- Compare results!
My Results of the Challenge:
As you can see from the images above, Stayfree is definitely top winner even from before putting pressure on top of it!
Let’s continue on…….
Obviously it is time that my current pad needs to be retired.
I didn’t stop there with the challenge though, oh no…I continued on……..
So, if you are looking for a good quality pad, I definitely recommend that you try using Stayfree Ultra Thin pads for your next period!
Thanks for being a part of my Stayfree Challenge!
#StayfreeChallengeContest This post is in part thanks to Kyla from Mommy’s Weird. Check her out, she’s the bomb!
Ever since seeing the preview for Disney’s Zootopia my kids have been waiting for the movie to come to theatres.
There have been many books, tv shows and movies about humans turning into animals, but, I cannot recall any where animals actually like as humans.
The closest ones I can think of would be A Bug’s Life, Antz and Peter Rabbit.
(If you can think of any please leave them in the comments)
Zootopia is about a rabbit named Judy Hopps who grows up in a small town and aspires to be something more than just a carrot farmer. She dreams of being someone who has positive influence in the world. She wants to be a police officer in the metropolis of Zootopia.
As a child, Judy is made fun of by a fox saying that she could never become a police officer because she is so small.
Even her parents do not seem to want to support her dream, trying to persuade her to be safe and become a carrot farmer.
But Judy persists and never gives up on her dream.
Part of me can relate to Judy.
I grew up in a very small town where your options of jobs was very limited. The best place to work was the local nursing home (exactly where I had my first job).
I dreamed of spreading my wings and leaving my small town and going to LaSalle College in Montreal to become a fashion designer.
Growing up I watched Fashion Television every Saturday and I would draw fashion designs and even sew some things out of the spandex my brother would bring home from the plant that he worked at.
Unfortunately, I allowed my own doubts to cloud my decision as well as my mother’s desire for me to stay close to home. I gave in to the fear and doubt and gave up on my dreams. I stayed close to home and went to the local community college. But, because it was not what I wanted to do (and because the instructor was horrible) I ended up quitting after a few months. Part of me wonders if I had gone to LaSalle, if I would have been able to actually achieve my dream. But, I wouldn’t change anything because I have 2 beautiful children who would not exist had I chosen another path in life.
Luckily Judy didn’t listen to her parents fears or give up on her dreams because of the doubts of others.
She went for it and succeeded!
The first rabbit to become a police officer, Judy has to prove herself to gain the respect of her peers and fellow officers.
I’m not going to tell you too much about the storyline as I really think you should watch it for yourself.
I love that the message of the movie is “You can be anything you want to be” and inspires you to keep hope in achieving your dreams, and that perseverance and never giving up will help you get there.
The movie flows wonderfully and I did not find that there were any slow parts at all.
The music was great (Thanks Shakira!) and the voices for the animals were well chosen. You might even recognize Judy’s voice as that of Ginnifer Goodwin from the hit tv series Once Upon A Time.
Zootopia is a heartwarming family movie that is great for all ages. I do however recommend using discretion for those under 5 or with viewing sensitivity as there are a couple “scary” parts, one that even made me jump.
You can check out the parental advisory warnings here: Parental Guide on IMDb
We had a couple in front of use who were at least in their 70s (if not 80s) and they were laughing quite a bit through the movie. There were also younger children 2-3yrs old in the theatre that enjoyed the movie as well.
We give this movie a 10/10 ! I really hope they make a 2nd one!
Check out the trailer below and if you go see the movie let me know what you thought about it!

Come On A Digital ICY ADVENTURE With The Snow Queen: Magic of the Ice Mirror!
Released today, November 3rd, 2015 via iTunes:
This follow-up feature film once again sends us on an a fun, family adventure with Gerda (Bella Thorne) and Orm (Sharlto Copley) that you won’t want to miss.
After celebrating their victory over the Snow Queen, Gerda and Orm have given their fellow trolls a taste of freedom. But when Orm gets a cold-hard reality check, they slip into another perilous journey and must protect the world from eternal winter.
Having not seen the first movie(Which I highly recommend doing!), The Snow Queen, I am glad that the movie starts with a 3 minute recap of what has happened so far with Orm.
Orm has quite the personality. He ends up in many funny and somewhat dangerous situations.
I found myself holding my breath within one of the first scenes where Orm has an “accident” at work.
The movie has many situations that many younger children will not understand like issues with money and bills, getting fired from your job, and eviction. I would not recommend this for under 6 yeas of age, but, it really depends on the child and what they are used to watching.
That being said, because the characters have wonderful “personalities” children of all ages will enjoy this adventure!
I think it will make for a lovely addition your holiday movies! Definitely a great movie to have on hand when your kids need a bit of distraction this holiday season.
Orm may be accident prone and have a nasty habit of telling lies to get out of and around trouble but, deep down he has the best of intentions and wants to be good.
Unfortunately Orm is faced with fighting his inner demons. Learning to choose right over wrong is not easy.
But, you’ll have to watch the movie to see if he is able to conquer them
and become good once and for all!
This movie is full of twists and turns and very funny moments that I am sure you and your family will love!
Your kids will love all the old and new characters in this movie. My favorite character is Orm’s sidekick Luta who just also happens to be his “Jiminy Cricket” trying to keep Orm from making bad choices.

Ps: Did you know that the voice of Arrog is none other than The Game of Throne’s Sean Bean?!!
I really enjoyed this movie and give it a 8/10 overall. Please come back and let me know what you thought of it!
Available @iTunesMovies this is a great movie to add to your holiday collection!

My Little Pony – The Friendship Games: Review & DVD Giveaway!
My Little Pony, one of the most popular television series on Treehouse TV, has a new full-length feature film being released Digitally, on DVD and via a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital combo pack in Canada on October 13th!
In the new release titled, My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games, Canterlot High meets its rival school, Crystal Prep Academy, in a competition that’s a long-standing tradition – The Friendship Games: a series of exciting events that includes archery, motocross, and rollerskating! Sunset Shimmer is tasked with keeping magic out of the games to keep things fair while she and her friends compete against Crystal Prep’s top students led by someone with an equal amount of interest in Equestrian magic – this world’s Twilight Sparkle.
Continue the journey through high school with the Mane 6 in this alternate My Little Pony universe, and find out what happens next in My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games!
When the new My Little Pony “Friendship is Magic” cartoon started showing up on Netflix, I wasn’t sure what to think about it. The animation was different, the voices weren’t quite what I had expected for the characters. It was a lot different from the My Little Pony cartoons I grew up with:
However, even though the animation and characters have taken on changes, I believe that the message of the show still remains true. It is even more apparent because it is in now in the show’s title: “Friendship Is Magic“.
When going back and watching the older episodes you will see that there are things to learn in every episode. Lessons on etiquette, family, friendship, school, work etc. I really enjoy in the new series that the ponies will go back and reflect over the lesson learned in that episode, a great way for kids to really think about what was going on in the show instead of just watching it.
A Lesson in Friendship???
Recently my little guy, Nate, he’s 7, brought something to my attention and it truly broke my heart.
Nate had taken some hockey cards to school because a few of his “friends” were really into hockey. He was SO excited. Only to come after school to tell me this:
“Mommy, “Bob” called me and some other kids into the bathroom, then he took my hockey card and said that Boston sucked and put my card in the compost and they all laughed”
I cannot even write that without being brought to tears. I know “Bob” and I know his siblings and his family. They are well known around the area. This child is showing signs of being a bully – he called other kids around to watch him treat Nate like crap and then laughed…..no friend would ever do that to you.
But, you know what. Nate will probably forget that moment and will continue to call “Bob” his friend. That’s because Nate has a huge heart and doesn’t see the black lining of others intentions and cruelty. I fear for the day he does.
Why are parents ignoring their kid’s behaviour? Do they not see how they treat others? Or is it because they are so busy and wrapped up in their own chaos that they are truly oblivious?
I would like to ask that you take some time to talk to your kids about not only how to treat their friends (maybe talk about the lessons found in MLP after they’ve watched an episode!) but, also on how they are being treated by their friends. It is so important to make sure that your child doesn’t turn into a bully, but also that they are not being bullied themselves.
Now, on to the movie review !
My Little Pony : The Friendship Games
I want to give a big shout out to Shout Kids, Kaboom! Entertainment and HasbroStudios for making this review and giveaway a possibility! This one was so much fun for us as we are HUGE fans of the My Little Pony Equestria Girl movies (though we have yet to see “Through The Mirror”).
This time around we also got to involve many FRIENDS from school too!
For this review I wanted to kick things up a notch and include more than just my own opinion and my kids’ opinions of the movie.
So, I invited a bunch of kids to come over for a movie screening.
We made 16 (yes, I said 16) bags of microwave popcorn, topped it off with Kernel’s popcorn seasoning, went through 40 juice boxes, 12 freezies and a bunch of homemade rainbow cupcakes I had made that morning!
The kids had a lot of fun watching the movie and there was rarely a peep heard.
We had 12 children aged 6 – 11 and they all really enjoyed it as you can see from the pictures. It was funny watching their faces change in emotions during the movie; a few scowls, gasps but also some “yes” moments too.
I interviewed some of the kids to see what they thought about the movie as well as what they thought being a good friend meant. It’s funny when you put kids on the spot and ask them questions they are not prepared for, no matter how simple.
Please note: I am horrible at interviewing people…LOL…I stumble over my words and say “yeah” a lot! Next time I’ll be more prepared…LOL..oh dear!
But, their answers are pretty cute and that’s all that matters!
I have to say most of them seem to know that being a good friend means helping your friends when they need it and being kind to them !
My review of the movie: I did not get a chance to watch the movie with the kids as I was constantly popping popcorn and grabbing more juice boxes but I have since watched the movie. As I have said before I really enjoy the morals of the show and that they use the movies/shows/characters/music to teach kids how true friends should act and treat each other…so that alone makes me want to give this movie a 10/10….but…I’ve been jaded and am a bit biased….Equestria Girls and Rainbow Rocks both had stellar sound tracks that we listen to time and time again…this time around unfortunately the soundtrack falls flat for me. When a movie has lots of songs in it, the soundtrack needs to be great IMHO (in my humble opinion). So, I have to dock a point because of that! Sorry! But, the movie still gets a big 9/10 for me and I know it is one we will be watching over and over again!
Now it is time for you to have a chance at winning a copy of the movie on dvd for you and your children!
I really hope that if you win that you come back and let me know your thoughts on it!
Ends November 6th, 2015!
Here are some images for you to download for your kids to color :
** I did not receive any compensation for this review other than the copy of the movie on dvd for our reviewing purposes! All opinions in this blog post are that of myself, my children and their friends!
Lashes are Loving it!
This mascara is AMAZING! I went from having thin, blonde, barely there lashes to stand out noticeable Lashes! I love the curved wand that was not hard and stiff. I love how smooth the mascara went on, coating my lashes. My lashes did not stick together, each one had perfect coverage.
I was telling my best friend Shelley (who wears make up everyday) about this awesome mascara that I just reviewed for BzzAgent.
I described how it went on smooth like butter and didn’t clump and was amazing….she asked me what kind it was…
I said it’s by CoverGirl the new Lash Blast line…
she said “Is it the bottle green?”
I said “yes”
She said “That’s Clump Crusher! I use it all the time it’s my favorite!”.
It was so weird that she not only new what i was talking about but that she has been using this same mascara for a long time!
If you are looking for quality mascara at a reasonable price you really need to try CoverGirl’s line of LashBlast mascaras.
“COVERGIRL LashBlast Mascara offers not one but four wildly different ways to power up your lashes. The original LashBlast Volume Mascara increases volume up to 10 times. Clump Crusher can build serious volume with zero clumps. Fusion combines volume with incredible length, and Full Lash Bloom leaves lashes touchably soft and full. Whatever look you crave, COVERGIRL has a blast for every lash!” ~BzzAgent
And lucky for you I have a few $2 off coupons to give away ! But, I’m only giving away 4 of them… LOL
I’m keeping 1 for myself! 😉

Get ready! An all new motion picture from Shout! Factory is being released this week.
The Seventh Dwarf is being released in stores everywhere on August 18, 2015.
It will be available on DVD and 2-Disc Blu-Ray™ 3D Combo pack (with 2D Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy). It will also be available for download on iTunes.
This fairy tale mash-up of all the classics (Snow White, Rapunzel, and more) is sure to delight children of all ages…and some adults too!
This highly anticipated CG-Animated Motion Picture was directed by Harald Siepermann (Tarzan, Enchanted) and Boris Aljinovic.
The Seventh Dwarf also features an all-star voice cast:
Peyton List – who plays Princess Rose, is best known for her role on the hit Disney series Jessie (2011).
You can link to her facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/peyton.list
Norm MacDonald – who plays Burner the Dragon in this film, is best known for his role in The Middle and on Saturday Night Live.
He has an extensive list of movie appearances/ voice overs. you can find more info here: Norm’s Filmography
Nina Hagen – Nina plays Dellamorta in this movie, and in a few images I have found online, she sometimes even looks like her character.
Joshua Graham – plays Bobo in the movie. I could not find any other information about this actor.
The Seventh Dwarf is a German 3D computer animated film, created and released in 2014. The Seventh Dwarf is also considered to be a sequel to the films 7 Dwarves – Men Alone in the Wood (2004) and 7 Dwarves: The Forest Is Not Enough (2006).
The movie starts with the tale of Princess Rose (aka Rapunzel) and protecting her from the dreaded spell cast by Dellamorta (you know the spell, the one where she pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep). She finally makes it to her 18th birthday and there is a HUGE celebration at Fantabularasa ( try saying that 3 times fast!) Castle where all the important fairy tale characters are sure to be in attendance.
(I loved the commentary by Red Riding Hood and the Wolf!)
Just before the clock strikes twelve, the accident prone and youngest dwarf Bobo, accidentally pricks the finger of Princess Rose and Dellamorta’s evil curse is unleashed, sending the kingdom into a century-long slumber!
It is up to Bobo and the other 6 unique and eccentric dwarves to set out on a journey to find Princess Rose’s one true love, Jack. Jack is the only one who can break the spell with true love’s kiss.
Movie Runtime is 88 minutes. MPAA Rating: PG.
I’ll admit that we are sometimes reluctant to watch movies that have not been made by Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar etc.
It’s not that I have anything against other companies, it’s just that we have seen movies in great packaging and then gotten the movie home and been thoroughly disappointed. Mainly because the kids get bored with the story or the movies themselves are just plain horrible, whether it be the animation, characters, etc.
I had heard mention of this movie online and even saw a preview for it. My first thought was “oh no” another movie with fairy tale creatures. But, as the preview continued, I found myself wanting to watch this movie with my kids.
I can honestly say, I was absolutely thrilled when I was approached to review it.
And be able to host a giveaway for my readers!
When the movie starts I was incredibly impressed with the animation, wonderful quality. I cannot wait to watch it in 3-D!
The story line is one we have not seen before and the characters are definitely unique. You easily get swept away in to the land of fairy tales where you keep rooting for Bobo all along the way.
There are many funny parts in this movie, a few lessons to be learned, and some new characters (like a purple walrus!).
We really enjoyed watching this movie as a family. Spending quality time with your kids is important. And while I try to limit screen time with my kids, I definitely enjoy watching a good movie with them.
(good = moral, good clean humour, no extremely sad parts)
I can admit that the songs are catchy and you’ll be finding yourself humming them the next day!
My son, who is 7, loved that the dragon started out as a bad guy but turned into a good guy. My daughter, who is 6, loved the part when the dwarves fell on top of each other.
My only negative comments on the movie are that I was not crazy about Dellamorta. The voice did not (IMHO) fit the animation….either the animation needed to look older or the voice needed to sound younger. Nothing against Nina Hagen as her voice is great for playing an evil witch, it’s just that it did not fit the animation in this case. She sounds like a cross between Ursula (from The Little Mermaid) and Yzma (The Emporer’s New Groove).
My only other unfavorable comment is that the dwarf characters could have had a bit more personality/better animation. I think a bit more time/effort into these characters and the movie would have been that much better. I do understand that Bobo is the main dwarf but, I just think the other 6 should have been given a bit more attention in detail.
Now it is time for you to have a chance to own the dvd for your family!

Alright, so I am back with my second review of the monthly subscription to Naturebox. This month I received a regular subscription box of 5 full sized products and 1 add-on item.
As promised in my last review, Product Review – Naturebox, I ordered 2 products that I knew that I would like (although both items that I knew I would like I had never tried yet!), 1 product that I am unsure if I will like it or not and 2 that I am already convinced that I will not like.
I have to mention that when I got charged for this month’s subscription I was a bit shocked at the charges. It was about $10 more than I had expected. That was my own fault though as I had forgotten about the exchange rate! Doh!
A monthly subscription is $19.95USD (for 5 items) plus $7.95USD shipping to Canada.
The total then becomes – $27.90USD which equals $35.46 Canadian
This works out to be approximately $7.10 Canadian/bag . I also had an add-on item this month which cost me an extra $1.
Now some of you may say $7.10/bag ?!??! Are you crazy, that’s expensive for a snack!! So, I did some research online and tracked down some brands that offered similar products. This month I had an add-on of a “granola bar”, they are only $1/each. Another “high end” company charges $1.60 per bar. Bagged nut/fruit mixes from “gourmet” / health food companies were anywhere from $14.95 to $19.95 a bag and were SMALLER amounts!
The other thing I want to mention, is that when you eat good quality food that tastes great, you are less likely to overeat!! You are left feeling more fulfilled. You also are less likely to get a sugar crash.
So, let me remind you of something:
Naturebox’s products are QUALITY. I would even go so far as to call them Gourmet snacks because of the quality. They come in resealable pouches. The pouches do not have a lot of air in them like some other companies tend to do, and they taste AMAZING!
I have a very discerning palate. I am fussy. I do not normally enjoy gourmet or healthy food.
Naturebox promises you this:
I don’t know about you, but I think that that’s pretty awesome! I like to know what I am eating and that my choices are getting better.
So, now to move on to this month’s selections!!
Are you excited?
I know I am, this month’s box was a bit of a shocker!
Let’s start with my favorite, and the one I knew I would LOVE. Jalapeno White Cheddar Popcorn
Oh, my goodness. This popcorn is absolutely the most wonderful popcorn I have EVER had. EVER.
Big puffs of creamy and spicy goodness. The popcorn itself was big, light and fluffy, wonderful quality. The white cheddar cheese coating was thick and creamy. The kicker was the real jalapeno flakes that encrusted each and every morsel. I could not stay away from this bag for very long.
I almost considered making next month’s box entirely popcorn, that is how much I love it.
I will be honest to say that it is not overly spicy as the cheese helps take away a bit of the kick but, if you do not like spicy, then I would suggest picking another snack. For me I would say it was a 4/10 on the spicy but a definite 10/10 on the overall taste!
Next up we have what I thought would be another “safe” choice: Tart & Tangy Fruit Medley
Dried fruit is usually a good choice for me as long as it does not have raisins in it. I hate raisins.
One of the reasons why I LOVE Naturebox’s dried fruit options!(No raisins!)
I loved this mixture of cranberries and apples. It is delicious and sweet. Soft to chew but not chewy. Rating 8/10
My add-on item this month was: Mocha Almond Bar for $1.00
Normally, I’m not crazy about protein or “granola” type bars. I find that they usually have coconut or raisins in them or taste gritty. I have to same I was extremely surprised by this one! Definitely will be on my pantry list! Loaded with nuts with just the right amount of rich chocolate. And apparently there is even dried apricots in it! (yeah, I just discovered that. I probably would not have tried it had I known as I do not like fruit and chocolate together.)
Really enjoyed this sweet and satisfying snack! Rating 7/10
Alright, are you waiting for one of the “I’m not going to like it” choices?
First I chose: Blueberry Almond Bites
I only like blueberries if they are fresh. I do not like them in shakes, muffins or any other form. So, I knew for a fact that I would not like this snack and would be handing them over to my SIL, whom I knew would like them.
I opened the bag and the smell of blueberries made me a bit afraid to try them. I cringed. Picked one up and popped it in my mouth.
I was completely WRONG!
They are actually quite enjoyable! A bit like eating a healthy “rice cake” only way better! Sweet, crunchy, light and definitely tasty! The almonds definitely added to their flavor!
They probably won’t stay in my pantry but, I still rate them a 7/10 !
My next choice that I thought for sure I would not like was: BBQ Kettle Kernels
(currently not available on their website)
I was also pleasantly surprised with this snack. I thought they would be too hard to chew and taste too much like corn. They are sweet and have a wonderful BBQ seasoning. I am disappointed to see them unavailable as this is one snack I would like to keep in my pantry selections. Rating of 7/10
Last but, certainly not least: Asiago & Cheddar Cheese Crisps
Okay, so, you know when you’re making a grilled cheese sandwich and sometimes the cheese melts out onto the frying pan and crisps up? I don’t know about you, but, I eat it and love it….well, this snack…tastes exactly like that!! That is truly the best way for me to describe the taste. It is crispy and cheesy deliciousness. It will definitely be staying in my pantry. Rating 9/10
